Developed by content guru Neil Patel, Ubersuggest is designed to provide marketers with keyword suggestions. This free tool can be used to visualize keyword and identify content opportunities. It even includes Google Trends to ensure that you’re choosing keywords with high search volumes too.
One pro is that there’s no need to sign in to use Ubersuggest and unlike many other keyword tools, you can use it as regularly as you want.
To find a phrase or focus keyword, start by entering your domain or a keyword idea, select your country and click Search.
Under the Traffic Analyzer menu, you’ll be able to view a list of your top SEO pages and organic keywords as well as the position and search volume for each. Under the Ubersuggest menu, you will be presented with data on the keyword you typed in as well as keyword ideas that are linked to your focus keyword.
You can easily export your keyword ideas data that includes search volumes and competition to a CSV file for later use.
To use the Google Keyword Planner tool, you need to have a Google AdWords account – you don’t necessarily need to spend any money but you will need to sign up for an AdWords account.
Even though the tool is meant to be used for advertising campaigns, it can still be used for organic research too. Along with accessing traffic forecasts for keyword lists, you will also be able to download search volume data and additional keyword ideas that can either be used to create your next campaign or optimize your online content.
Once you have logged in to your Google AdWords account, click on the Tools icon and the Keyword Planner link.
You will now be given the option to find new keywords or get search volumes and forecasts. To find new keywords you will be asked to enter a phrase or domain, after which you will be shown a list of keyword ideas, their search volumes and the competition for each.
The Search Volumes and Trends function are designed to tell you how many clicks you can expect to get for any given keyword based on your budget and the average cost per click.
If you want to gather keyword ideas for content, it’s best to stick to the Find New Keywords function.
If you already have a Google AdWords account, Google Keyword Planner is a better option because it will provide you with far more suggestions and data than Ubersuggest. If you’re planning to run paid advertising campaigns in the future, Google Keyword planner is once again the obvious choice.
This is not to say that Ubersuggest isn’t still a viable option though. Many marketers use Ubersuggest as an extra source of keyword data during their optimization processes.
